Surface Amalgam on Magnesium Electrode: Protective Coating or Not?

چکیده
A better control of the metal–electrolyte interface is mandatory to help development rechargeable magnesium batteries. Protecting surface by a coating layer avoid its passivation with conventional liquid electrolytes promising strategy. Herein, in contact mercury droplet, crystalline amalgam created on magnesium. After creation this coating, remarkable improvement plating/stripping process observed bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide/dimethoxyethane electrolyte, whereas strong hindering electrochemical cycling occurs when using bare The detailed investigation evolution during cycling, however, shows substantial chemical and morphological changes, eventually showing that such does not act as protecting but rather an independent electrode material deposited inert Mg substrate.

متن کاملNi-B Coating Production on Magnesium Alloy by Electroless Deposition
The use of magnesium alloys is limited due to their susceptibility to corrosion although they have many attractive physical and mechanical properties. To increase mechanical and corrosion properties of these alloys, many deposition method and coating types are used. Electroless Ni–B coatings have received considerable interest recently due to its unique properties such as cost-effectiveness, th...
متن کاملEffect of surface roughness on amalgam repair using adhesive systems.
The objective of this in vitro study was to evaluate the effect of three surface treatments and two adhesive systems on the shear bond strength of old and freshly placed amalgam. The results suggested that the intact amalgam showed a significantly higher strength than repaired groups and the strongest repaired specimens were made when the amalgam surfaces were roughened with a diamond bur or mi...

متن کاملBeneficial effects of Y2O3 dispersion on Al2O3 protective coating
We have studied the mechanism by which dispersed Y 2 0 3 exerts beneficial effects on the oxidation protection of an A1203 coating (film) on the basis of the following models: 1) Y2O3 suppresses surface segregation of S by trapping it in the alloy matrix and accordingly suppresses spalling of the A1203 film; 2.1) The diffusion of alloying elements into the N2o3 film is retarded by dispersed oxi...
